TWIN PEAKS VETERINARY CENTER ANNOUNCES

‘MONSOON MICROCHIPPING MANIA’

Twin Peaks Veterinary Center is offering free microchipping of pets with paid registration during the months of July, August, and September. "Thunderstorm anxiety is a real problem for dogs.  We recognize that with the potential for storm activity almost every day, Arizona during monsoon season can be extremely difficult for these dogs,” says Dr. Beth Neuman.  Dogs that break free from their home or their yard in an attempt to escape the noise often end up injured and scared in local shelters or emergency hospitals. In hopes that those pets will be returned safely home, Twin Peaks Veterinary Center is offering free microchipping with paid registration fee of $19.99.

Clients want to believe, “That won’t happen to my pet,” says Dr. Neuman.  The truth is, more than 10 million pets get lost every year and more than 90% of those lost without ID are never returned.  "Your companion animals are a very important part of your family, and we want make sure they find their way safely and quickly home to you," says Dr. Neuman, “microchipping is an important part of that process.”

The microchip itself is about the size of a grain of rice and is implanted between the shoulder blades of a pet.  The process is no more painful than receiving a vaccination.  The chip contains a unique number that is associated with pet owner information and maintained in a national database. Many owners don’t realize that microchips are not like a homing beacon that gets turned on when your pet gets lost; it is for identification only, and a pet must be registered for the microchip to be effective.  Once registered, the data is maintained permanently and the owner is contacted annually to ensure contact information remains current.

The registration fee includes the following features:

·          Owner data updated yearly

·          Proactive lost pet recovery network

·          Personalized “Lost Pet” Posters

·          24/7 Lost Pet Specialists

·          Access to ASPCA Poison Control Hotline 24/7

·          Travel Assistance for Found Pets

·          Lost Pet Medical Insurance – covers up to $3,000

"It's essentially a system that assures your pet -- if ever lost -- will find its way back to you," Neuman says. "It's a great way to save pets' lives and keep families together."
